Really, I'm totally SICK of seeing fanfics with this horrible crimes as a part of the "romantic plot", and this bothers me EVEN MORE when this kind of trash is written about my favourite ships.
People, a rape IS A CRIME, NOT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL. The same applies with the assassination. I remember finding a fanfic of one of my favorite couples like a month ago, where the male character murdered and dissected the female one at the end of the story, and the 40 reviews of this fanfic were praising it as a beautiful and romantic thing ...... WHAT THE F*CKING F*CK.
DISGUSTING.
On the other hand, I don't have problem when those crimes are placed inside of a story in which they have nothing to do with romance. For example, in the A Song of Ice and Fire saga, George R. R. Martin describes a merciless medieval and sexist world, where sexual abuse and violence are common things, BUT the story's plot is not about the glorification of abusive relationships (Even in Westeros the rape is saw by the charactes as a crime).
The same happens when we're talking about a detective story. In this kind of tales, criminal acts play roles more as a nuances of rawness, or risk factors for the characters than as a disgusting "romantic drama for the OTP".

It mostly happens because writers are very lazy to come up with any legit plot to ship the characters.
